UP has been awarded the Gold Medal at the Kaohsiung International Invention and Design EXPO 2024 for their groundbreaking research on “Mae Ing Shibori”

On December 6th and 7th, 2024, the University of Phayao, under the leadership of Professor Dr. Samur Thanoi, Vice President for Research and Innovation, took part in the “2024 Kaohsiung International Invention and Design EXPO” (KIDE 2024) in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. This event, organized in collaboration with the Program Management Unit on Area Based Development (PMU A), featured over 500 submissions from 30 countries around the globe.          

The University of Phayao’s research project, “The Art and Craft of Natural Dyed Fabrics,” was awarded the Gold Medal. The team behind the research included:

          • Mr. Ekkarin Latthasaksiri, Founder and Advisor of the Mae Ing Shibori Natural Tie-Dyed Community Enterprise.

          • Dr. Warach Muttayomburut, Research Project Leader and Deputy Director of the University of Phayao Innovation and Technology Transfer Institute.

          • Assistant Professor Dr. Kanlaya Jumpatong, Vice Dean for Administration, School of Science, University of Phayao.          

This achievement highlights the University of Phayao’s continued commitment to advancing research and innovation that brings meaningful change to local communities, society, and the global stage. The success not only demonstrates the capabilities of Thai researchers but also reflects the role of education and sustainable innovation in the international arena.
