ICT Launches a Service Point for the Development Project of a Community Used Cooking Oil Bank Management System under the BCG Economy Model at Mae Ka Municipality.

On November 15th, 2024, the school of information and Communication Technology at the University of Phayao held an opening ceremony for the service point of the Development Project for a Community Used Cooking Oil Bank Management System. The event took place at Mae Ka Municipality in Mueang District, Phayao Province and was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Nakarin Chaikaew, Vice Dean for Student Quality Affairs, and Assistant Professor Dr. Bowonsak Srisangsittisanti, Associate Dean for Special Affairs. The project is based on the BCG Economy Model.

The project aims to address the challenges of managing used cooking oil by educating the community about the environmental and health risks associated with improper disposal and repeated use of cooking oil. It also promotes sustainable practices by encouraging the reduction of excessive reuse of cooking oil in households and establishing a model community bank for collecting and managing used cooking oil. This initiative, under the care of Mae Ka Municipality, seeks to mitigate environmental issues caused by non-biodegradable waste and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the government’s carbon credit policies.

During the ceremony, Mr. Banjong Wongrat, Advisor to the Mayor of Mae Ka Municipality, officially received the equipment for the community’s used cooking oil bank. The event was attended by local leaders, including village heads and community members, showcasing a strong sense of collaboration and commitment to sustainable development.

This project represents the University of Phayao’s continuous efforts to improve public health, reduce environmental impact, and advocate for the principles of the Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG) in nearby communities.
