UP Innovation Day 2024: Innovation for Societal Well-Being” is an initiative that aims to promote the practical application of research and innovation to benefit local communities, society, and entrepreneurs. In order to effectively implement research findings, it is crucial to collaborate with various network partners and secure funding sources. This partnership helps cultivate a new generation of students and entrepreneurs who are equipped to apply their knowledge to business creation and innovation. The University of Phayao, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, is dedicated to developing science infrastructure, research, and innovation to drive economic growth in the northern region, ultimately improving the quality of life and well-being of communities in a sustainable manner.
On August 15th, 2024, Associate Professor Supakorn Pongbangpho, President of the University of Phayao, presided over the opening ceremony of UP Innovation Day 2024: Innovation for Societal Well-Being at the Mueang Phayao Conference Room, School of Information and Communication Technology, University of Phayao. The event was organized by the Institute of Innovation and Technology Transfer, led by its director, Assistant Professor Dr. Santiwat Pithakpol. The exhibition featured a range of technologies and innovations developed within the university’s innovation ecosystem, in collaboration with internal and external network partners. The event included various exhibition zones, such as Agri-Food Innovation, Medical-Health-Beauty Innovation, Social-Green Innovation, Learning-City Development Innovation, Startup-Spin-off-Local Startup-UP Product, and STI Infrastructure Development. Additionally, the event hosted a discussion on “Creating High-Value Businesses with Innovation and Research Results,” as well as UP Tech and IP to Commercial Pitching activities by researchers. A special lecture on “Mechanisms of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation to Promote and Support Innovation Development in the Region,” was delivered by Mr. Ekapong Musikacharoen, Director of the Science, Research, and Innovation Promotion and Utilization Division, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.
In the morning, a seminar was held on “Creating High-Value Businesses through Innovation and Research Results.” The seminar included UP Tech and IP to Commercial Pitching activities led by Professor Samur Thanoi, Vice President for Research and Innovation. Distinguished speakers, such as Dr. Rutthavith Siriamornsith, Chief Executive Officer of CMH Life Science Co., Ltd., Mr. Pawarit Love Asavabhokin, Managing Director of Neutrina Biotech Co., Ltd. and Pow Miracle Co., Ltd., and Dr. Wittawas Sajjapong, 2022 Outstanding Researcher in Commercialization from the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Phayao, were featured. These experts participated in a discussion on the seminar’s topic.
The Innovation and Technology Transfer Institute hosted several ceremonies, including a Donation Ceremony to honor the University of Phayao for its use of research outcomes. There was also a Technology Handover Ceremony and Intellectual Property Rights Licensing Ceremony between the University of Phayao and entrepreneurs who utilize the university’s technologies. A Packaging Prototype Delivery Ceremony was held for prototypes developed with design services from the Innovation Design Center at the Innovation and Technology Transfer Institute. Additionally, a Signing Ceremony took place to support the Social Innovation Project for 2024 between the Social Innovation Driving Unit in the Northern Region, University of Phayao, project leaders, and the community. The event also included a Grant Award Ceremony to support entrepreneurship and startup development for students, along with a Student Entrepreneur Pitching Showcase.
